“I’m drawn to art that evokes memories, contains a narrative or suggests a mystery. An oil hung in my childhood home: two cows alongside a pond, a cluster of trees, two figures, so close their garments seemed indistinct in their togetherness. We knew nothing of this painting’s history before it became one of my dad’s many rescues. It was just some unknown artist’s rendition of a moment from a long-forgotten summer day. But, growing up, how I loved this painting! Today, it’s part of my home, like the cover of a book of memories, reminding me of all things home: a jug of lilacs, one of Mom’s radio show, a calico that insisted on curling up on the forbidden chair. Thank you, unknown artist! You did your job.”

Becca Riley

Glass & Fiber Artist | Studio A5

Contact: beccaanneriley@gmail.com

Since a young age, Becca has always been involved in the arts. Raised by creative parents, she never questioned what her passion is. During High School she took as many art related classes as possible. In 2008 she went to Corning, NY to take a beginner’s class in glassblowing. Ever since, glass working has been a true passion. When she moved on to college, she knew she wanted to focus in jewelry and metal smithing.

In 2010 she decided to attend Indianna University of Pennsylvania because of their large art program. While there she not only continued to pursue jewelry making, but involved herself in ceramics and fibers as well. Since graduating college with a BA in Studio Art and a minor in Entrepreneurship for the arts, she has been involved in an art co-op.

Waldo’s and Company in Gettysburg has opened up a great opportunity for Becca. She has had an art studio there since 2015. Waldo’s enabled her to sell her art work she has produced in her studio. She is currently focused in Stained Glass, where she took a class at the Adams County Arts Council in Gettysburg, as well as glass bead making. Becca is continually taking classes and broadening her horizons in the art world.

In 2019 she left her management position and moved into the role of Administrative Assistant at the Adams County Arts Council. ACAC is a non-profit organization that really helps the community in so many was. She finds her new job rewarding and fun, too!
